Fives for iPhone & iPad · Mac coming soon

Help with Fives.

A few simple rules. Plenty of room to grow. Find your next move, recover a purchase, or get in touch.

5 + 5 = 10. Every great run starts small.

Everything starts
with five.

Slide the board, combine equal tiles, and make space for what comes next: 5 → 10 → 20 → 40 → …

  1. Swipe to slide

Swipe up, down, left or right. All tiles move as far as they can in that direction.

  2. Match to merge

Equal tiles combine into their sum. A tile can merge once per swipe, and its new value adds to your score.

  3. Keep some space

Every successful move adds one new tile. Career uses a progressing range of up to three consecutive values, with the smallest most likely. Survival, Race the Clock and No Going Back Here always add only 5 or 10. A swipe that changes nothing adds no tile.

Four ways to play.

Start with Career. Clear stage 5 to unlock Survival, stage 10 for Race the Clock, and stage 15 for No Going Back Here. Help → Try modes offers fresh previews of all three without saving scores or Career progress, or showing adverts.

Available from the start

Career · 50 stages

Reach the target tile to clear a stage and unlock the next. Each target is twice the last.

80 → 160 → 320 → 640 → …

  • Every new stage, replay or restart begins on a fresh 4×4 board with two 5/10 tiles and zero score.
  • Stages 1–5 allow new tiles of 5 or 10. Clearing stage 5 unlocks 20 as a possible new tile from stage 6; clearing stage 6 unlocks 40 from stage 7. Each later clear unlocks exactly one higher value for the following stage.
  • The stage reward raises your new-tile limit; it does not give you larger starting tiles. Every stage begins with a range of 5 and 10. Higher values still need to be earned by merging and clearing the lowest value in your range. You can merge above the new-tile limit to reach the target.
  • Only up to three consecutive new-tile values can appear. The range advances after its lowest value is fully cleared and higher values are earned. A retired value does not return during that run, including after a phone call or reopening the app. Undo restores the preceding board and range.
  • Reach 10,240 to earn a 5×5 board automatically. Your tiles and score come with you. Earn this prize again in every stage targeting 10,240 or higher.
  • Further automatic rewards arrive at 81,920 for 6×6, 655,360 for 7×7, and 5,242,880 for 8×8. Each later milestone is eight times the previous one. Running out of moves before earning more space ends the attempt.
  • Every successful move adds one new tile, even after a large merge.
Unlock: clear Career stage 5

Survival

Keep going for the highest score you can.

  • Start on 4×4. Reach 10,240 to earn 5×5 automatically, with further tile milestones earning more space.
  • No moves before the next earned expansion ends the run.
  • Each successful move adds only 5 or 10: a 90% chance of 5 and a 10% chance of 10, throughout the run. Board growth does not change these new-tile values.
  • Undo reverses only your latest move, including its new tile and score.
Unlock: clear Career stage 10

Race the Clock

Ten minutes. Start on 4×4 and earn more room at the same tile milestones. Make every merge count.

  • Each merged result of 1,280 or higher earns 10 extra seconds. Two qualifying merges earn 20 seconds.
  • Each successful move adds only 5 or 10, with 90% and 10% chances respectively, throughout the run.
  • Undo reverses only your latest move, including any time bonus it earned. The clock keeps running while you undo.
  • The run ends when time expires or no moves remain. The clock continues in menus, in the background, and after closing the app.
Unlock: clear Career stage 15

No Going Back Here

An endless challenge where every move is final.

  • No Undo button or undo action.
  • Only 5 and 10 appear as new tiles throughout the run, with 90% and 10% chances respectively. Earn automatic board rewards and keep building your score.
  • Separate local top-20 scores and statistics, plus its own optional Game Center global leaderboard on iPhone and iPad.

It has to be a new merge. In Race the Clock, sliding an existing large tile earns no time bonus. Merging into exactly 640 does not qualify.

Common questions.

These questions describe Fives for iPhone and iPad. For the upcoming Mac release, see Mac support below. For anything else, contact Arman using the email below.

How do I continue a saved game?

Fives saves each mode separately on your iPhone or iPad. Phone calls, background time and reopening the app keep your board and Career’s current new-tile range together; retired Career values do not return. The other three modes continue adding only 5 or 10. Choose Continue to return to an unfinished Career stage, or reopen an unfinished Survival, Race the Clock or No Going Back Here run.

Selecting a Career stage from the stage map starts that stage fresh with that stage’s new-tile limit. Restart also starts a new board; cleared stages, unlocked modes and best scores stay saved.

Can I continue the same game on iPhone and iPad?

Use the same Apple Account for iCloud on both devices. In Fives → Settings, enable Continue across iPhone & iPad first on the device with the game you want to keep, and wait for a successful save. Enable it on the other device and choose the game you want if separate saves are found. Fives checks for updates when it opens, returns to the foreground or reconnects, and applies them at a safe menu or Settings screen.

All modes still work offline. Your local moves wait until internet access returns, then synchronize. Conflicting games require a choice; iCloud sharing does not combine two boards. Each device keeps its local high-score history, advertising counters, consent choices, preferences and purchases. Apple Watch shares Career unlocks separately and keeps its own boards.

If a save cannot upload, check your iCloud account, available iCloud storage and connection, then use Check iCloud now. Reset progress pauses sharing on that device and does not delete iCloud saves or other devices’ games. Re-enabling sharing may bring an existing cloud game back.

Can I undo a move?

Career, Survival and Race the Clock let you reverse only your latest move during unfinished play, restoring the board and score. Career also restores its previous new-tile range. Undo in Race the Clock also removes the reversed move’s time bonus; it does not stop or rewind the running clock. A completed run is final. No Going Back Here has no undo.

Why has my Career new-tile range not increased yet?

In Career, the smallest value must be completely cleared, and your merges must have earned at least two values for the next range. This keeps a tiny opening merge from immediately producing large tiles. Career also applies the new-tile limit earned for that stage.

Career’s range is shown below the board. When all three values are available, their chances are 75%, 20% and 5%, from smallest to largest. When only two are earned, those weights are shared between the two; the opening 5/10 range begins at 90%/10% while the highest tile is 10 or less. Survival, Race the Clock and No Going Back Here always use 5/10 at 90%/10%; their new-tile values never progress.

Can I try a mode before unlocking it?

Open Help → Try modes to preview Survival, Race the Clock or No Going Back Here. Previews use the real gameplay rules and show no adverts. They do not change Career progress or save scores, and exiting discards the preview board. Clear Career stages 5, 10 and 15 respectively to unlock their full modes.

Why did Race the Clock end while I was away?

Its timer uses a real deadline. Leaving the board, locking your iPhone or closing Fives does not pause it. The advertising timer counts active gameplay only.

Where are my scores, and do I need Game Center?

Open Scores to see local statistics and the top 20 completed runs for Survival and Race the Clock. No Going Back Here has its own local records too. All three score histories are separate. Earlier-version scores may appear in a separate history section.

Game Center is optional. Survival, Race the Clock and No Going Back Here each have their own global leaderboard. Choose a mode in High scores, then Global and Connect Game Center. An internet connection and an Apple Game Center account are needed to upload or refresh rankings. Local play and scores work without connecting.

How does Remove Ads work?

Remove Ads is a one-time purchase, priced at £1.99 in the UK. Other regions show their local App Store price before confirmation. It removes advertising from Fives; it is not a subscription. Apple handles the payment.

If a purchase is awaiting approval, ads are removed after the App Store confirms it. If the product is temporarily unavailable, check your connection and try again later.

I already bought Remove Ads. How do I restore it?

Choose Restore Purchases in Fives while connected to the internet. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase. You may be asked to sign in or confirm the restore with Apple.

If no purchase is found, check the Apple Account used for App Store purchases. Restoring Remove Ads restores that purchase entitlement; it does not restore a deleted local game save. See Apple’s in-app purchase restoration guidance or contact support if the problem continues.

When can adverts appear?

In Career, Survival and No Going Back Here, five active gameplay minutes trigger a clearly labelled Ad break after the current tile movement settles. Tap Continue to view a ready advert, then resume the same board. Race the Clock has no mid-run ad-break screen. Three completed losses can make an advert due sooner at Retry, Restart, Next Stage or Menu; Race adverts appear only at natural breaks. Menus, help, scoreboards, adverts, background time and game-end notices do not count as active gameplay.

A shown or skipped advert starts a fresh time and loss cycle. Clearing a Career stage resets the loss counter, while the active-play timer continues. Restarting an unfinished game, winning a stage or expanding a board does not count as a loss. Offline or unavailable adverts are skipped without catch-up. Ads depend on availability and privacy choices. Remove Ads disables them.

The upcoming iPhone/iPad version 1.8 will also show Kickstart Exchange banners on the active main menu on iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, when advertising is permitted and a banner is available. These banners will not appear during gameplay, mode previews, Help, Scores, Settings, purchase or privacy forms, or a full-screen advert. Remove Ads will disable both Exchange banners and AdMob adverts. Version 1.7 keeps Exchange disabled. Read the advertising privacy details.

Where can I change advertising privacy choices?

Open Help and choose Ad privacy choices when it is required for your device. Stay connected while the form opens. If you are offline or the form is not ready, Fives shows a message beside the button so you can retry. Previously required privacy choices remain available after buying Remove Ads; this does not restart advertising. Fives requests non-personalized ads. That does not mean an ad provider processes no data; read the advertising section of the privacy policy for details.

Can I play offline? Will reinstalling keep my progress?

Career and all unlocked modes work in airplane mode, as do the previews in Help. Games, cleared stages and local scores save on your device. Adverts are skipped while offline. Buying or restoring Remove Ads and connecting or refreshing global rankings need an internet connection; an already verified Remove Ads purchase stays active offline.

Game progress is stored on your device without a Fives account. On iPhone and iPad, you can also enable optional iCloud saved-game sharing in Settings. Deleting the app can remove local progress and local score history; Remove Ads restoration does not restore a game. Avoid reinstalling as a troubleshooting step if you want to keep unfinished games or local records.

How do I use accessibility options or report a problem?

With VoiceOver, focus the board and choose a movement from Actions. Reduced Motion follows your iPhone settings. Gentle haptics can be switched off in How to play.

If the board or interface stops responding, close and reopen Fives, then check for an app or iOS update. Contact support if it continues; include the mode and what happened just before the problem. Race the Clock keeps running while the app is closed.

Fives for Mac.
Coming soon.

The upcoming Mac release will bring the same four puzzle modes to Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or later.

Use arrow keys, mouse or trackpad drags, or the direction buttons. Command-Z will reverse just the latest move in Career, Survival and Race the Clock. No Going Back Here will have no Undo. The resizable window and Game menu will offer Mac controls.

Mac gameplay will work offline, with boards, Career progress and separate local high scores saved on this Mac. This release will not share saved games with iPhone, iPad or Watch, or offer Game Center rankings.

On macOS 15 or later, Kickstart Exchange banners will appear only on the main menu when available; games will have no advert interruptions. An optional one-time Remove Ads purchase will remove those banners. macOS 13 and 14 will have no adverts or new ad-removal purchase offer. Restore Purchases will remain available for an eligible existing purchase. Read the upcoming Mac privacy details.

Fives for Meta Quest.

The free version for Quest 3 and Quest 3S opens in 2D with the same four puzzle modes. Saved boards, Career progress and high scores stay on your headset.

Play offline, point and drag to swipe, or choose the arrow buttons. This Quest release has no adverts, purchases or global rankings. Progress is separate from your mobile devices.

Choose Try 3D (beta) from the menu for an optional immersive practice board. It is still in development and does not save scores or Career progress. It uses local hand, controller and headset tracking, with Meta’s room-view passthrough. Choose Return to 2D to go back to the main game.

No separate Fives account is needed. Fives does not request your Meta account profile, birth date or age category. Read the Meta Quest privacy policy.

For Quest support, include your headset model, Horizon OS version, Fives version, whether you were playing in 2D or 3D, and what happened.
